Sheet music for anyone who wants to read it

What the project is, who it's for and how the sight-reading method works.

Who it’s for

Anyone who wants to learn to read sheet music, at their own pace. If you play from chord charts, tab or by ear, that experience helps; if you’re just starting, every step is explained. Right now the course covers acoustic and electric guitar, and more instruments will be added over time.

How it works

There are 14 short missions, 8 to 15 minutes each, in five phases: foundations, rhythm, first position, patterns and the whole neck. Every mission has examples you can hear, the instrument’s neck next to the staff and a quiz at the end. The Practice tab has games for daily training.

The method follows what music-reading researchers and teachers recommend: a few anchor notes instead of rote memorizing, reading by shape (intervals, scales, arpeggios), lots of rhythm, aids you turn off over time, and short, spaced practice.

Actually free

The 14 missions and Practice are free, with no sign-up. Your progress is saved only in your browser. Paid expansions (repertoire, more phases) may come later, but the complete reading course stays open.

Every melody is either in the public domain or original. The illustrations and staves are drawn by the site itself. Book and method suggestions are on Recommended materials.
